Special recognition for pro bono community legal service

Mr Gordon Chan is pleased to receive a Special Award in the 2020-22 Recognition Scheme for Provision of Pro Bono Legal Services for contributing over 50 hours in pro bono services during 2020-2022.

Over the past few years, Mr Chan has provided pro bono legal assistance under the Free Legal Advice Scheme of the Duty Lawyer Service, and the Bar Free Legal Service Scheme of the Hong Kong Bar Association.

Mr Chan provided legal advice to members of the public in District Offices and the HKU campus on civil, criminal, matrimonial, and medical matters, etc. He also represented a taxi driver for refusing hire, a charge which was neither covered by legal aid nor the Duty Lawyer Service.

The Chief Secretary for Administration’s Office operates the recognition scheme to commend and encourage legal professionals who dedicate their time to the community.
