Mr Gordon Chan was attached to Sreenivasan Chambers LLC for further medicolegal training in Singapore.

Mr Gordon Chan was selected as a delegate to the Law Society of Singapore x Hong Kong Bar Association Exchange Programme 2025, attached to Sreenivasan Chambers LLC, shadowing Sreenivasan Narayanan SC throughout August 2025.
Mr Sreeni is a respected litigator recognised by Chambers and Partners, Legal 500, and Lexology for commercial litigation and white-collar crime defence. The firm is also one of Singapore’s leading medical law practices. It was a pleasure to meet Mr Sreeni and Mr Palaniappan in person, who acted in the landmark case of ACB v Thomson Medical [2017] SGCA 20. In this unfortunate case of IVF mix-up, the Court of Appeal, while rejecting upkeep claims for wrongful birth, recognised and established a new head of damages for “Loss of Genetic Affinity”.
In the month-long immersive attachment, Mr Chan has particularly benefited from the comprehensive exposure to the medicolegal practice in Singapore, including medical defence in disciplinary inquiries of the Singapore Medical Council and plaintiff work in medical negligence claims. At the same time, he gained insight into Singapore’s public and private hospital systems.
Mr Chan is also privileged to sit in numerous hearings, a mediation and client conferences. These would include complex arguments before the Appellate Division at the Supreme Court for a high-wealth family trust case; an appeal in a High Court Judge’s chamber in the Supreme Court for a multi-billion US dollars cryptocurrency contract dispute; a mediation pending appeal at the Singapore Mediation Centre for a High Court personal injury claim.
On the other hand, the firm also has a renowned white-collar crime practice, with Mr Sreeni and Mr Jason Lim acting in defence in the largest market manipulation case in Singapore. Mr Chan also took this opportunity to gain insights into the similarities and differences between the criminal legal systems of Hong Kong and Singapore.
Apart from Mr Sreeni, special thanks are extended to Jason Lim, Muralli Rajaram, Palaniappan Sundararaj, Adorabelle Tan, Sathya Narayanan, Wong Pei Yee, Liew Xuan Ning, Claire Tan, Vidya Subramanian, Kyle Gabriel Peters, and other members of Sreenivasan Chambers LLC; Yi Siong Sui, Benjamin G Sew, Siraj Shaik Aziz, and members of the Young Lawyers Committee of the Law Society of Singapore; Assistant Professor Aaron Yoong, and students from the SMU Law Society of the Singapore Management University for their hospitality and intellectual exchanges.
